Description
Author of Reading, Writing and Leaving Home, Lynn Freed will discuss her writing, including some works not yet published. The New York Times described Reading, Writing and Leaving Home as a wry lively series of essays that were a welcome exception from the usual writer’s memoir, and in which “over the course of this book, she proves wonderful company, entertaining and astute, ruthless in her willingness to sacrifice even the people she loves for the sake of a story.” Freed displays relentless candor about the “sloughs of not writing, the false starts, the frustration and despair.” Five of her books have appeared on The New York Times Notable Books of the Year list: Home Ground, The Bungalow, The Mirror, House of Women, and The Curse of the Appropriate Man. Freed is Professor of English at the University of California at Davis.
