Paula Treichler, Professor in the College of Medicine, the Gender & Women's Studies Program, and the Institute for Communications Research at the University of Illinois- Champaign will present "Medicine, Culture and Narrative Power: AIDS on General Hospital." Treichler will explore the community and cultural responses to AIDS. She will also address AIDS in Africa. Treichler is the Director of the Institute for Communications Research and is associated with the Unit for Criticism and Interpretive Theory. Her research includes AIDS; feminist theory and pedagogy; language and gender; language and medical discourse; medicine, the media, and communication; medical education; women in medicine; and women's health.
