Rochester N. Y. August 1, 1884 I hereby make a solemn pledge that with God's help, I will hereafter absolutely abstain from all intoxicating drinks of any description except under the prescription of a regular physician, and then only in such quantities as may be by him prescribed. Isaac F. Quinby

August 1, 1884 To the Trustees of the University Gentlemen The undersigned hereby tenders his resignation as professor of Math and Nat Philosophy in the University of Rochester, begging that before it takes effect he may be granted a leave of absence for one year from the first of September next to enable him to support his family while he is arranging his matters here, and seeking other employment.
