Westbury Dec. 31st 1865 Dear Cousin I now take my pen to put some of my thoughts on paper since from uncle's letter I begin to fear we shall be disappointed in seeing thee on the Island this winter. Had a hard snow ^storm^ yesterday all day long and to day the sleighs have been in use although at meeting there were nearly as many wagons. It is now cloudy and warmer. Father and mother have gone to cousin & P Willets's to spent the evening and I am in the house nearly alone. Kate is spending a few days at Syosset
