Stewart Weaver, Professor of British History at the University of Rochester, will present "Because It Was There: Mallory, Everest, And The 1920s." Weaver, who has a book forthcoming on the history of Himalayan exploration and mountaineering, will focus on the enduringly fascinating and complex figure of George Leigh Mallory. He will describe the place of the Himalaya in the British imagination and feature photographs and illustrations from the 1920s and his own recent travels in India and Nepal. Introduction by Ernestine McHugh.
